Using the Unusual

Who doesn't like to be a little different every now and then?  I love beautiful pottery for container gardens, but it's also fun to try something out of the ordinary when deciding on a container for your next plant display.

Take a walk around your house and look around to see what's lurking and might provide a home for some of your favorite plants this season. Vist antique stores, look through your garage or in your attic. If you let your mind wander a little, you will probably come up with some unique ideas of your own.  To inspire you, we'll post some ideas we've discovered.

An old basket makes a simple container for growing herbs.

How about an old baby bathtub?

Or a vintage clawfoot tub?

A bright buket is perfect for a container of daisies.

An unsued fountain or birdath is fabulous for adding height to your landscape.

Did you ever think an old bed could be put to such great use?

Or an old bicycle?

Old chairs used as plant stands are another way to add interest.  Paint one a bright color, and you've got instant cheer.

A favorite is an old colander.  Stunning, isn't it?

And if you're lucky enough to find one of these old newstands?  Well, how cute is that idea?

An old mailbox?  Of course!

An old red wagon is the perfect size and it's also easy to move around.  If it's a Radio Flyer, then a double bonus!

An favorite pitcher, filled with flowering plants is sure to perk up your outdoor table.

Or grab a serving bowl you rarely use, and give it new purpose.

Watering cans are not just for watering plants.

Yep, those are rubber boots.

Nothings says reuse and recycle like an old trash can.

Feeling inspired?  Take a look around and let us know your ideas in our comments section.  We can't wait to hear what you've come up with.
